STUDIO2U
REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
Version: 1.0 Effective Date: September 3, 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy ("Policy") elaborates on Section 8 ("Cancellations, Refunds, and Disputes") of the Studio2U Terms of Service and describes how cancellations, rescheduling, and refund requests are generally handled for bookings made through Studio2U ("Studio2U," "Company," "we," "us," or "our").
This Policy does not replace the Terms of Service. Where this Policy and the Terms of Service conflict, the Terms of Service control.
1. PLATFORM ROLE
Studio2U is a technology platform and marketplace that connects clients with independent recording engineers, artists, producers, and other independent service providers ("service providers"). Studio2U facilitates scheduling and payment for bookings but does not itself perform recording services.
Because service providers are independent businesses, the specific availability, scheduling flexibility, and session conduct for a given booking are ultimately theirs to deliver. This Policy describes the marketplace-wide baseline that applies unless a specific booking's listing states otherwise.
2. THE 10% STUDIO2U PLATFORM FEE
As described in the Terms of Service, Studio2U charges a 10% Studio2U Platform Fee on applicable transactions. The Platform Fee compensates Studio2U for operating the marketplace, payment processing, scheduling tools, and related platform services, and is separate from the service provider's own rate.
Refund eligibility for the Platform Fee is addressed in Section 6 below.
3. CLIENT-INITIATED CANCELLATIONS
- Cancellation before a session: A client may cancel a confirmed booking prior to the scheduled session start time through their Studio2U dashboard or by contacting support.
- Timing matters: The amount refunded, if any, generally depends on how far in advance the cancellation is made relative to the scheduled session. Cancellations made further in advance are more likely to be eligible for a fuller refund than late cancellations, which may result in a partial or no refund to account for the service provider's reserved time.
- No-shows: A client who does not appear for a scheduled session without cancelling in advance is generally not entitled to a refund.
4. SERVICE-PROVIDER-INITIATED CANCELLATIONS
- If a service provider cancels a confirmed booking, the client is generally entitled to a full refund of amounts paid for that booking, including the Studio2U Platform Fee associated with it, unless the cancellation resulted from circumstances attributable to the client (for example, a client's own violation of the Terms of Service).
- Studio2U may, at its discretion, assist the client in rebooking with another available service provider.
- Repeated or unexplained cancellations by a service provider may result in enforcement action under the Terms of Service, including suspension or termination of that service provider's account.
5. RESCHEDULING
Clients and service providers are encouraged to communicate directly through the platform to reschedule a session when possible, rather than cancelling outright. A rescheduled booking that both parties agree to is not treated as a cancellation for purposes of this Policy.
6. REFUND OF THE PLATFORM FEE
- Where a session does not occur due to a service-provider cancellation, or due to a platform or payment-processing error attributable to Studio2U, the Platform Fee associated with that booking is refunded along with the service provider's portion.
- Where a session does not occur due to a late client cancellation or a no-show, the Platform Fee may be retained by Studio2U to the extent permitted by the payment processor's own refund rules, since platform and processing costs are incurred regardless of whether the session ultimately takes place.
- Refund amounts are also subject to any non-refundable processing fees charged by Studio2U's third-party payment processor (including Stripe), which Studio2U does not control and cannot waive.
7. DISPUTES ABOUT SESSION QUALITY OR CONDUCT
- Studio2U does not guarantee the quality of a service, the skill of a service provider, or the outcome of a recording session, as described in the Terms of Service.
- If a client believes a session was materially different from what was represented in a listing, or that a service provider failed to show up or perform the booked service, the client may submit a dispute through the platform's support channel with any relevant details (messages, timestamps, description of what occurred).
- Studio2U may review the available information and, at its discretion, facilitate a resolution between the parties, which may include a partial or full refund, a credit toward a future booking, or no adjustment where the available information does not support one.
- Where payment was processed through a third-party processor, Studio2U may assist with a dispute but does not guarantee a particular outcome, and the processor's own dispute or chargeback rules may also apply.
8. HOW REFUNDS ARE ISSUED
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through Studio2U's payment processor. Processing times for a refund to appear are determined by the payment processor and the client's bank or card issuer, and are outside Studio2U's control.
9. HOW TO REQUEST A CANCELLATION OR REFUND
A client or service provider may request a cancellation or refund by:
- Using the applicable cancel/reschedule option in their Studio2U dashboard, where available; or
- Contacting Studio2U support with the booking details and reason for the request.
Studio2U will make reasonable efforts to respond to cancellation and refund requests in a timely manner.
10. MARKETPLACE-WIDE POLICY MAY BE UPDATED
Consistent with the Terms of Service, Studio2U may establish, adjust, or refine marketplace-wide cancellation and refund policies from time to time, including introducing tiered cancellation windows (for example, distinguishing 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour notice periods) as the platform matures. Any such adjustment will be reflected in an updated version of this Policy.
11. NO GUARANTEE OF A PARTICULAR OUTCOME
As with all Studio2U policies, Studio2U facilitates cancellations, rescheduling, and refund requests in good faith but does not guarantee a particular outcome for any specific dispute, consistent with the disclaimers and limitations of liability in the Terms of Service.
12. RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER POLICIES
This Policy works together with, and does not limit, Studio2U's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Security & Acceptable Use Policy.
13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
Studio2U may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes may be communicated through reasonable means. Continued use of the platform, or completion of a new booking, after an updated version becomes effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
14. CONTACT
Questions about a specific cancellation, rescheduling, or refund may be directed to:

IMPORTANT: This Policy describes Studio2U's intended cancellation and refund approach in general terms; it does not yet reflect fully automated, code-enforced cancellation windows or refund tiers (none exist in the platform as of this version). A Delaware-licensed attorney should review this Policy, particularly its interaction with the Terms of Service's limitation-of-liability and dispute-resolution provisions and with the payment processor's own refund/chargeback terms, before specific percentage-based or time-based refund tiers are published or enforced.
